The confidence to drive your own rig.

Honest, safety-first instruction on your own rig — until you’re actually confident
BOOK A SESSION

Twisted Creek RV Driving School exists because an RV is one of the largest vehicles a private citizen can buy and one of the few that most people start driving without ever having been taught. We teach that part. Driving instruction for Class A, B and C motor homes — mirrors and reference points, backing, tight turns and tail swing, lane control, and highway merging. Towing and pull-behinds — hitching, safety setup, backing a trailer, turn swing, and handling a crosswind at speed. Full campsite operations — site approach, leveling, power, water and sewer hookups, slide outs, and systems checks. And group sessions built for couples, RV clubs, and retirement communities. Three things shape how the instruction works. It happens on your rig — not a training vehicle, not a rental. It comes to you — the school is mobile, across Franklin County and about a hundred miles in every direction. And it’s honest — you get a straight read on where you stand: what’s solid, what still needs time, and what to practice after the session ends.

Sessions run two to four hours, with full-day intensives and multi-day formats for owners stepping into something much larger. Beginners are welcome and are, in practice, most of the work. The season runs April through October. Instruction is delivered by owner David Chitwood, who holds a Class A Commercial Driver’s License — the license class Kansas requires to operate its heaviest motor homes on the road. That’s the standard the instruction is held to. A portion of every session supports veterans and seniors who have earned the open road. That isn’t a marketing line bolted on at the end. It is a large part of why the business has the shape it does.

I’m David, and I’ll be the one in your passenger seat. I hold a Class A Commercial Driver’s License — the license class Kansas requires for the heaviest motor homes on the road. I mention it early because you deserve to know what’s behind the instruction before you hand over the keys to something that size. What I actually do is simpler than the license makes it sound. You drive. I read the road ahead of you, tell you where your rear wheels are going, and give you the reference points that turn a forty-foot coach from a guess into a vehicle you can place exactly where you mean to. When something’s solid, I’ll say so. When something still needs work, I’ll say that too, and I’ll tell you what to practice. I work with a lot of people who are genuinely nervous, and being nervous about a large vehicle is a completely reasonable response to a large vehicle. It’s a skills gap, and skills gaps close. I travel to students across eastern Kansas, and a portion of every session goes to mobility programs for veterans and seniors.
